The importance of coastal restoration
Louisiana continues to lose one football field in area every 38 minutes.
Our state Coastal Master Plan estimates it will require $50 billion over 50 years to set back the damage done to Louisiana by the levee system constructed in 1930 in response to the 1927 flood.
Our Legislature must fully fund the Coastal Trust Fund and protect funding for barrier island restoration, marsh recharge, and other flood protection measures to protect our homes and businesses.
To do otherwise is to not only open us to the next killer storm to hit our coastline, but to lose our unique way of life.
Send me to Baton Rouge and I will work to ensure the implementation of Coastal Master Plan.
